Privacy Policy

Stacks helps you keep track of books. This page explains what we store, who can see it, and how to take it with you or delete it.

What we store

• Your account: email address and the sign-in method you use (email link, Google or Apple).
• Your library card: name, username, card color, favorite genres, optional bio, reading goal.
• Your reading: books on your shelves, ratings, page progress, start and finish dates, curated shelves, private notes.
• Your connections: who you follow, who follows you, and anyone you block or report.
• Usage data: pages visited and features used, without advertising cookies.

We ask for your birth year only to confirm you are 13 or older. We do not store it.

Who can see it

• Public libraries: anyone can see your card, shelves, ratings, public curated shelves and activity.
• Private libraries: only followers you approve can see them. Your name and username stay searchable so people can send a request.
• Private notes are visible only to you, always.
• A Wrapped link you share shows that year’s summary to anyone with the link, not your library.
• People you block cannot see anything of yours, and you cannot see theirs.

Services we use

Supabase (database, sign-in, file storage), Vercel (hosting), Resend (email), PostHog (product analytics, run without cookies), Sentry (error reports), Open Library and Google Books (book information; your searches are sent to them without your identity). We do not sell your personal information.

Your choices

• Download everything we store about you from Settings, as JSON or CSV.
• Delete your account from Settings. Your profile, shelves, notes and connections are deleted immediately; backups expire within 7 days.
• Switch your library to private, or hide your activity, at any time.
